After the KS Environmental trucks tip your bins the recyclables are taken to a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) where mechanical and manual sorting processes separate materials. From here materials are compacted/baled/packaged and transported to remanufacturers.
Disposing of items that are not part of the applicable waste stream into the bins will cause contamination and may mean the whole load is rejected at the MRF (and will be diverted to landfill).
